Artist Statement
Frozen No. 1 sits in the space between injury and offering. The hand is scarred from years spent shielding the heart; the flame is what remains of passion after too many collisions. The gesture of an arm extended, a rose held too perfectly, feels suspended, unable to melt or move. The image studies what happens when desire hardens into performance, when tenderness freezes in the act of self-protection. What is offered looks like warmth, yet it is cold. What burns is not the rose, but the one still trying to give it.
